Household Battery Recycling Change

The battery recycler Thompson’s Sanitary uses has new sorting requirements and is now charging a fee to recycle. Due to that change, the batteries are now included in the $10 recycling fee at the Newport Recycling Center (next to the TSS office) M-F 9:00-4:00pm.*

In collaboration with the City of Newport Library, you can drop off your batteries in the lobby of the Library free of charge, but please sort them in the appropriate buckets (alkaline and rechargeable).

*If you are a TSS curbside customer, you are entitled to three(3) free trips annually to the Recycling Center. Glass, Paint, and Electronics are still collected at no charge at the same location.
